Two MacAdemics Teams qualify for state UIL meet

The MacArthur High School current events and social studies teams will represent Irving ISD at the state UIL Academic Meet May 24 and 25 at the University of Texas at Austin. The current events continued its undefeated year with its 13th straight district championship, a regional championship and a bid to the state meet.

Members of the team are:

Iris Martinez, senior (This is her third year to advance to state, and she already holds one championship title.)

Sam Dennehy, junior (This is his second trip to state, and he already holds one championship title.)

Obed De la Cruz, junior

Nikhil Arora, junior

The social studies team won its seventh-straight district championship and a bid to state. Members of the team are:

Sarah Huerta, senior (She is returning to state for her second time, and she also holds a championship title.)

Miles Brownlee, junior

Daniel Earley, junior

Charles Salazar, junior

“I am extremely proud of the MacAdemics scholars and coaches,” MacArthur High School principal Dan Cummings said. “Together, they are building a dynasty of success and making sure that the name MacArthur demonstrates excellence.”
