Former student visits Valley Ranch to encourage students to stay fit

When the Dallas Cowboys Rookies visited Valley Ranch Elementary (VRE) School as their first community appearance, it was a homecoming for one of them. Devin Smith, rookie corner back for the Cowboys, attended VRE, Coppell Middle School North, and graduated from Coppell High School in 2009.

Smith was one of 22 Cowboy rookies who joined representatives from The Cooper Institute and volunteers from UnitedHealthcare (UHC) in an NFL PLAY 60 FITNESSGRAM pep rally and outdoor fitness clinic at the school May 22. He and the other rookies shared advice on how they stay in shape before heading outdoors to lead students through a variety of fitness drills.

“Stay active, stay fit, and go out every single day this summer and play for 60 minutes,” Smith told the third, fourth and fifth graders at a pep rally in the gym.
