Search for new fire chief will wait until new city manager is found

The City will wait to hire a fire chief until a new city manager is permanently hired, thus marking a series of appointments that could signal change in City operations.
City officials said recently they wanted the new city manager to make a decision on a fire chief. The City Council will then be asked to confirm the nomination.
Already, the City is working on creating a profile for the new fire chief, Jose Madrigal, strategic services team directors for the City, explained, but that process has just started.
“It’s a time consuming process and we’re at the preliminary stages,” Madrigal said.
