Ben Washington Baptist Church welcomes new pastor  


Ben Washington Baptist Church, located in the historic Bear Creek Community of Irving, welcomes Dr. Larry L. Harris as the new senior pastor. Dr. Harris has over 20 years of preaching and teaching experience.

Focused on helping God’s people understand the Word of God, Dr. Harris seeks to encourage, inspire and help people to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Harris brings an energetic and insightful approach to sharing the Gospel and looks forward to creating new relationships and sharing his vision with the Ben Washington Baptist Church and the Irving community.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Harris relocated to Texas in 2010 to become the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Terrell. He holds a Doctorate in Ministry with a concentration in Strategic Leadership and Theological Studies from Faith Evangelical Seminary in Tacoma, Wash.

Dr. Harris and his wife Kimberly are the proud parents of two daughters. Destini is a student at Howard University in Washington D.C. and MaKaria is enrolled in the 6th grade.

The installation services will be held on Sunday, June 1, during the 11 a.m. worship services at the Ben Washington Baptist Church.

Ben Washington Baptist Church was founded in 1942 and will be celebrating the 72nd church anniversary in October. Dr. Harris succeeds Dr. Joseph R. Sheppard who led the church for 52 years until his death on Jan. 14, 2013.
