What was so funny? Well, the antics of Texas comedians Michelle Thomas, Keith Manning, Comedian Q and headliner Aaron Aryanpur.
Comedian Q hosted the event, and Jasmine Lee of the Irving Parks and Recreation Department opened the show.
Irving CFO Max Duplant and Irving city council members Gerald Farris and Oscar Wild laughed along with everyone else in attendance.
Many attendees came prepared with picnic baskets full of homemade goodies and blankets to stretch out on, but for those who didn’t Cuban, Asian and barbeque vendors were just a step away from the main stage. A beer garden was also available for those looking for that special beverage to quench their thirst.
After the comedians finished doubling the crowd over in laughter, the Memphis Soul Band took over, bringing people to their feet to dance to their funky rhythm and blues style.
As an added bonus, 97.9 “The Beat” radio station was giving away prizes throughout the evening.
As one of the most highly attended events of the year, according to Joseph Moses, director of the Irving Parks and Recreation Department, Moses plans to submit the event in hopes of receiving an award.
