Add a New Furry Family Member
Through June 30

The Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane, is celebrating national Adopt a Shelter Cat Month in June by uniting loving cats with wonderful homes this month! The shelter is running an adoption special all month long: All cats one year and older are free to adopt, kittens under one year are only $50! The summer months always fill our shelter with wonderful animals looking for the perfect home. Now is the time to find that perfect pet match. Harry Potter Lock-In
July 2, 3 PM - 6 AM

Bring a sleeping bag, comfy clothes and enjoy 6 of the 8 Harry Potter movies, snacks, trivia and crafts. Leave at midnight or say “locked in” at the Valley Ranch Library until dawn. Permission slips are absolutely required. See library for complete details. This event is for teens only.

Coppell Concert and Fireworks
July 3, 7 to 10 p.m.

Due to flooding, Coppell’s Independence Day concert and fireworks show will be moved to Wagon Wheel Park, 345 Freeport Parkway. A live performance by the Jordan Kahn Band will have everyone in the spirit. After dark, enjoy a spectacular fireworks display choreographed to patriotic music. Pack a picnic basket and bring it from home or purchase food at the event.

Irving Parade
July 4, 9 a.m.

The festivities begin with the annual, award-winning parade through downtown. The fun continues with a community reception at Heritage Park from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring free watermelon, cupcakes, children’s activities and a concert by the Kenny Chavez Combo.

Coppell Parade
July 4, 9 a.m.

The Spirit of Coppell Parade route begins on Samuel Blvd., traveling north to Parkway Blvd. where it will turn left and proceed west on Parkway Blvd. to Town Center Blvd. Intersections along the parade route will be closed beginning at 8:50 a.m. and remain closed until all entries have passed. Commuters should seek alternate routes during this time period.

Irving Fireworks
July 4, 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m. head to the Las Colinas Urban Center for a free outdoor festival, complete with fun zone, large food court, and live performances by All Funk Radio Show and the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra. The evening ends with a fireworks display over Lake Carolyn!

Lawn chairs, blankets, ice chests and leashed dogs are permitted at all Independence Day event.

Project Backpack
July 1 – Aug. 7

Corporate America Family Credit Union (CAFCU) begins its twelfth year of support for Project Backpack, an annual school supply drive that helps families, students and teachers prepare for the school year. All CAFCU branches will be collecting items such as rulers, highlighters, calculators, binders, and other basic classroom tools to give to local schools and organizations in need.
