W. Arnold Martin, 84, of Irving, died at his home on October 18, 2017. He was born on November 26, 1932 in Many, Louisiana to James Thomas and Ida Elizabeth (Cobb) Martin. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University. Arnold married Alice Day Hargis on June 3, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2008. Arnold was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving. He was Vice President of Darr/Caterpillar during his 35-year tenure. Arnold was active in his church and his community. He was a church deacon for over 40 years, taught Sunday School, worked with the Boy Scouts, supported the IISD’s athletic and academic programs, served on several board of directors, and was associated with countless business and community ventures. Survivors include: sons, Karl D. Martin and Kevin Dean Martin and their families: Karen Martin, Kameron David Martin, Lindsey Martin, Evelyn “Kamille” Martin, Kyler Alice Martin, Mark McGrath; sister-in-law, Margie Hargis; 12 nieces and nephews; and companion, Frances Kaiser; as well as numerous other relatives. A Graveside Service was held on Friday, October 20, 2017. Rev. Bob Harper officiated. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, October 27th at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 North Story Road in Irving. Rev. Ken Branam officiated.
