The Villages on MacArthur, skilled care and memory care community, is hosting a donation drive to aid the animals of the DFW Humane Society. As part of the ‘Community Works’ program, an initiative giving seniors an opportunity to serve the community, the residents will hold the drive April 1st through May 5th.
“The residents of our facility wanted to focus on animals in need in our local community,” said Nicole Leary, Wellness Director of The Villages on MacArthur. “We will be making tie toys to donate as well as part of our Life Works Wellness program this month. Also, I have a rescue dog that visits the residents here sometimes and it just brings so much joy and love to our residents when he visits them.”
The Villages on MacArthur asks the public to bring donations of unused goods, including cat litter, cat toys, cat food*, cat treats, dog toys, dog food*, dog treats, towels and blankets (new or gently used), and monetary donations.
The Villages on MacArthur is located at 3443 North MacArthur Blvd. in Irving.
The residents will present the donations to the DFW Humane Society representatives on Saturday, May 12.
* The DFW Humane Society gives the animals in their care Science Diet food, but they will accept all dog and cat food donations.
