Steve Lomeli, president of the senior class at Singley Academy, received his associate’s degree, and he doesn’t even have his high school diploma yet.
Through Irving ISD’s Early College Start program, students can earn up to 60 college credits toward an associate’s degree while in high school at no cost to students and their families.
Lomeli took the initiative to take additional classes outside of the school day, which allowed him to earn the degree months before he is expected to receive his high school diploma.
