Irving—Financial status should not determine a student’s success in the classroom. To help make sure of that, the city of Irving, Irving Fire Department, Irving Schools Foundation and several other organizations are teaming up for the annual Supplies for Success Drive, running through July 31.
For the past 13 years, the drive has collected and distributed school supplies to Irving Independent School District students from low-income families.
Supplies Needed:
Backpacks (no wheels)
Two-inch binders with dividers
Spiral notebooks (one subject)
Notebook paper (wide and college ruled)
Composition book, black and white
Plastic folders with brads and two pockets
Washable markers (eight-count packages)
Crayons (24 count)
No. 2 pencils
Erasers (large, bevel)
Rulers (standard and metric)
Small scissors
Glue sticks.
Organizers say backpacks are the most requested item, but students need an array of supplies from folders and notebooks to colored pencils. A full list of school supplies is available online.
Donations can be dropped off at any Irving fire station.
Financial donations also are accepted. Checks can be made payable to Irving Schools Foundation and mailed to the foundation:
