Irving PD Make Arrest in Murder of Local Woman

Irving – The Irving Police Department is investigating a capital murder that occurred on Thursday, Dec. 12, around 6 p.m. Officers initially responded to the 3000 block East Cortez Court on an unconscious person call and discovered Betty Thomas, 83-year old female deceased. The cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Investigators arrested Roy James Holden Jr., 43-year-old b/m. Holden, employed with Spectrum, had been to the residence previously, but was not on duty at the time of the murder. He stole credit and debit cards and was recorded on surveillance video.

The motive for this murder is still unclear.
