Irving—The Highlands School announced assistant athletic director, teacher and coach Denver Bowden will transition into a new role as THS Athletic Director. The former athletic director, Steve Wright, became The Highlands School director of finance and human resources earlier this year.
Bowden began working for the school in 2019 and has taught and coached for over eight years. Coach Bowden is ready to lead the Blazer football program as it makes a transition to TAPPS 6-Man football. Coach Bowden is a current member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas High School 6-Man Coaches Association. Coach Bowden will also teach P.E. and Social Studies at THS.
“I am thrilled to be stepping into the role of athletic director at The Highlands School,” Bowden said. “I look forward to continuing the great tradition of success here at THS, based on the mission which is to develop our students into Christian leaders who can make a meaningful difference in the world around them.”
“The Highlands School is focused on putting the right people in the right places to best serve our students and families,” headmaster Dr. Michael Pennell said. “Denver Bowden will be an outstanding leader for our Athletic Department. He has well-rounded knowledge and experience with multiple sports and youth organizations. He will serve as a dedicated, faithful and extremely positive representative for our community at-large.”
