Coppell recognized for excellence in financial reporting
Coppell—The city of Coppell is proud to announce that the Strategic Financial Engagement Department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
GFOA has presented this award to the city of Coppell every year since 1989, making this the 34th consecutive year. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is awarded to state and local governments that go above and beyond the minimum requirements of accounting principles and provide comprehensive and transparent financial reports.
“We’ve received this award for more than three decades, but it’s always exciting because it shows that we’re continually dedicated to presenting our financial information clearly and transparently,” Kim Tiehen, director of strategic financial engagement, said.
The GFOA Certificate of Achievement award program was established not to evaluate the financial health of its participants, but to encourage state and local governments to prepare financial documents that clearly communicate the organization’s financial position to its residents and stakeholders.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
