Police search for murderer

Irving—The Irving Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 2000 block of West Irving Blvd. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Callers advised a shooting had just taken place and there were two victims. One victim, identified as Juana Medina Rodriguez, 55 years of age, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Juana’s daughter was the other victim. Nayeli Bolanos Medina, 23 years of age, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Nayeli’s young son was in the apartment at the time of the shooting, according to sources.

The Irving Criminal Investigations Unit, Fugitive Unit, and Crime Information Center began working to identify and locate the suspect, Hector Matute (aka Hector Paguada), 33 years of age.

The initial investigation revealed the suspect and female victims knew each other but the motive for the shooting is unclear. A Capital Murder warrant for Matute was issued concerning this incident.

The police request anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hector to contact their local police department immediately. Do not attempt to contact or apprehend this individual.
