Dallas County Elections invites public to test voting system and new e-pollbook check-in device

March 29, 2025

Dallas, Texas – As part of its ongoing commitment to transparency and election integrity, the Dallas County Elections Department (DCED) invites the public to participate in a Public Verification Test of the County’s voting system and newly implemented electronic pollbook check-in devices.

The event will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2nd, at the Dallas County Elections Department, 1520 Round Table Drive, Dallas, TX 75247.

This public-facing testing event provides a unique, hands-on opportunity for residents to interact with the County’s voting system and verify that votes are being accurately recorded and tabulated. Participants will also be able to preview and test the new KNOWiNK e-pollbook devices.

The ballots used during the Public Verification Test will contain the same races and propositions as those on the upcoming May 3rd Joint & Special Election ballot. However, these ballots are for testing purposes only and will not count toward the actual election.

“Just 45 days ago, we were faced with replacing our entire electronic pollbook system,” said Dallas County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia. “Despite the tight timeline, the Elections Department successfully implemented the new platform. It was a major challenge, but our staff got it done. Now we’re ready to show the public that we’re prepared for the May 3rd election.”

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to discuss vulnerabilities or weaknesses they believe exist in the process.

This test is conducted in addition to the state-mandated Logic and Accuracy Testing required by the Texas Election Code.
