Cedar Hill baseball team wins playoff series

Cedar Hill—The Cedar Hill High School Baseball Team won its first playoff series in 18 years with a 5-2, 6-0 sweep of Harker Heights last weekend.
The Longhorns (22-6-1) will face Royse City in the Area Round of the Playoffs this week. From District 6A-11, only Cedar Hill and Waxahachie are still in the playoffs.
Cedar Hill opened Game 2 with a 3-0 first inning in which Brayden Boyd and Evan Smith each drove home a run.
Monte Dismuke threw a complete game one-hitter, striking out four and not walking any Harker Heights batters.
Julian Gonzalez (2-for-3) and Nathaniel Alvarado (2-for-2) led the Longhorns offensively.
In the series opener, Gonzalez struck out 10 in a complete game victory. Boyd and Reginald Samuel II each drove home runs. Alvarado, hitting leadoff, went 2-for-2.
Royse City (25-6), the District 6A-10 Champion, opened the playoffs with a 4-1, 3-2 sweep of Wylie East.
The Longhorns and Bulldogs have three common opponents: Duncanville, Mesquite and Forney.
Cedar Hill split with Duncanville, lost two of three to Mesquite and defeated Forney, 12-0.
Royse City defeated Duncanville, 3-2 and Mesquite, 1-0. The Bulldogs swept Forney, 5-2, 15-5.
The winner of the Cedar Hill-Royse City series will play Conroe Oak Ridge or Cypress Woods in the third round next weekend.
