Southern Dallas County- Best Southwest Juneteenth Festival
June 14, 6 – 10 p.m.
Grimes Park, DeSoto, TX (501 E. Wintergreen Rd. DeSoto, TX 75115)

The City of Desoto and Best Southwest cities are excited to join for the Best Southwest Juneteenth Celebration. Activities include food vendors, a variety of arts and crafts, live performances, and much more. Best Southwest area which includes Desoto, Duncanville, Cedar Hill, and Lancaster is so named because of the cities’ ability to work together on projects that benefit Southern Dallas County.


Dallas Pride Parade
June 15, Festival opens 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Parade begins, 2 p.m.

The Dallas Pride Music Festival will feature a variety of musical and dance performances on both the outdoor main stage and on an indoor community stage. More than 200 vendors will have booths to see and shop at the festival. Local animal rescue groups will also be on-site for guests to meet a possible new furry family member.

This summer, let your imagination shine in the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge: Color Our World! From June 1 through July 16, join us as we explore a world full of stories, color, creativity — and prizes!
Sign up in person at the library and track your minutes using the READsquared app.

Open to all ages — kids, teens, and adults — but participants must be Hutchins, TX residents or Wilmer-Hutchins students.

Reading Goals:
• Kids – 300 minutes
• Teens & Adults – 600 minutes
Everyone who completes the challenge is entered into our Grand Prize Drawing for amazing rewards like a Nintendo Switch, TVs, laptops, toys, and more!

Join us at the library as we kick-off our Summer Reading Challenge! Celebrate the beginning of summer with a family friendly events for all ages. Color your world at the library this summer! Log the books you read to earn badges and rewards. There is a registration process for each age group, children, tweens, teens and adults.

How to collect weekly prizes:
Adults can pick up their weekly prize from the Service Desk located on the upper level of the library. Pick one prize from the multiple of prize offerings each week. There is no back tracking on prizes from missed weeks.

How to enter to win grand prizes:
Throughout the summer on this app, you get a chance to put your tickets that you earn from logging your books into the virtual adult grand prize buckets. Winners will be announced at the end of the summer.

Irving: 2025 Summer Art Adventure Camps!

Irving Arts Center is excited to announce the return of its summer camp program after a one year hiatus due to construction and facility renovations! 

From June 9 through August 1, Irving Arts Center offers a variety of fun, thoughtfully curated educational experiences for kids and teens ages 4-16* with 11 unique camps to choose from. These hands-on classes are taught by professional art educators and artists.
