Police investigate traffic fatality

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 4300 block of East Main Street on Friday, June 13, at approximately 9:20 p.m.
A Chevrolet pickup truck attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of East Main Street when it was struck by a Chrysler passenger car traveling eastbound. The driver and passenger of both vehicles suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet and the driver of the Chrysler both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased by medical staff. The passengers from both vehicles remain in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Chrysler was traveling at a high rate of speed. Additionally, investigators determined that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The identities of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
The collision remains under investigation.
