Arden Scout Harrell, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was recently honored at a seminary graduation ceremony held at the church meetinghouse in Irving on June 1.

Seminary is a four-year religious education program for high school students. The classes, held each morning before school starts, are designed to help students deepen their understanding of the scriptures, strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and apply gospel principles in their daily lives. The students study the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and church history.

Arden completed all four years and passed all requirements.

“Taking time to study the scriptures and learn about the Savior, especially during busy days filled with school, sports and responsibilities helped me start each day with purpose and peace,” Harrell said.

“It strengthened my faith, helped me feel His love during hard times and taught me to rely on Him. It’s made me more confident in standing for my beliefs and trusting God’s plan.”

Arden graduated summa cum laude from Irving High School and was seventh in her class. She was a member of the National Honor Society and completed 350 hours of community service. She also lettered in cross country, track and wrestling.

She plans to attend Brigham Young University in Utah and major in business.
