Driver killed in early-morning crash

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours of Aug. 12 at the intersection of Marshall Drive and SW 3rd Street.

According to police, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Nissan passenger car traveling north on SW 3rd left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Grand Prairie Fire Department medics.

Traffic investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin have been notified.

The collision remains under investigation.
