City administrator let go after five years
August 15, 2025
Wilmer—The City of Wilmer terminated its city administrator, Rona Stringfellow Thursday evening after five successful years with her at the helm.
Stringfellow came to the city after 16 years with the City of Lancaster in a variety of roles from city planner to deputy city manager.
Stringfellows’ last day was Aug. 7 after she was let go in a 3–2 city council vote. Mayor Pro Tem Phyllis Slough, Linda Diane Nelon and Kim Turner voted for Stringfellow’s removal while Laura Jacobs and Sergio Campos voted against the termination.
The city administrator was let go without cause.
During her time as city administrator Stringfellow brought Paul Mitchell, Nike and Trina Solar to Wilmer. She was also part of the ribbon cutting of Medline last year, which moved its global distribution hub there.
Also under her direction, a new fire station opened.
Ground was also broken for the city’s new police station and water works facility while Stringfellow was at the helm, a project on target for completion in the future.
Mayor Sheila Petta will take over the duties of city administrator as the city begins its search for a replacement.
