Congresswoman visits schools to kick off year
August 22, 2025

Lancaster—Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett celebrated back-to-school week by spending the day with students and staff across Lancaster ISD. On the district’s second day of school, she visited Lancaster Middle School, Pleasant Run Elementary, and Lancaster High School, taking time to connect with students, educators, and administrators.
During her visits, Congresswoman Crockett shared her personal journey to becoming a congresswoman and gave students mini lessons on how Congress operates, including the roles of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. She also reminded students that she works for them and is committed to representing and supporting the schools in her district.
“The work that I do is truly for our future generation and so I think that it’s important that we have the conversations with them so they know that there are advocates fighting for them even if they can’t vote for them,” Crockett shared. “I need them to know that they matter just that much. You never know how you can change a child's life.”
Lancaster ISD Superintendent Dr. Katrise Perera and members of the Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees accompanied the congresswoman on her campus visits.
“We are always grateful when our elected officials visit our schools and interact with our students. Congresswoman Crockett has been a consistent supporter of our district and her intentionality of being engaged with our district shows,” Perera said. “Congresswoman Crockett’s presence and her interaction with our students is an important civic engagement lesson that will add value to their education.”
