Cedar Hill football rallies to defeat Midlothian

Cedar Hill—The Cedar Hill High School football team used a second-half surge to defeat Midlothian 36-21 in their season opener Friday night at Longhorn Stadium. 

Senior quarterback Omowale Muhammid, making his starting debut, accounted for three touchdowns. He completed 17 of 20 passes for 185 yards and one passing touchdown, while adding two rushing touchdowns on seven carries. Receiver Quentis Frazier caught his first varsity touchdown pass, a six-yard connection from Muhammid. 

Cedar Hill and Midlothian were tied 21-21 at halftime before the Longhorns outscored the Panthers 15-0 in the second half. Jaylen Williams rushed four times for 75 yards, and Juelz Carter carried 19 times for 35 yards, scoring twice. Ten different receivers caught passes for Cedar Hill (1-0). 

Midlothian entered the game ranked 13th in Class 5A, Division I. Cedar Hill has now won 16 of its past 22 home openers and 13 of its last 22 season openers. 

Next up, the Longhorns face a tough road test against Allen in the Tom Landry Classic. The Eagles, ranked seventh in Class 6A, defeated Midland Legacy 46-13 in their opener Friday.
