Frankie “Fran” Bonilla

Frankie “Fran” Bonilla, a resident of Irving, Texas since 1959 passed away January 5, 2024, in Irving, Texas at the age of 96. She was born to parents L.F. and Ethel Smart on April 20, 1927, in Gilmer, Texas. Fran built her career in Commercial Real Estate starting in 1968. She went on to start Fran Bonilla

Commercial Real Estate in 1985 and became a member of North Texas Commercial Association of Broker. Fran served on the city of Irving Planning and Zoning Board for four years, as well as serving on the Irving City Council for ten years, including Mayor Protem and Deputy Mayor Protem. While Fran served on the city council, she was involved on the Finance Committee and chaired the Planning and Development Committee. Fran represented the City of Irving on the National League of Cities International Economic and Development Committee. She was appointed a charter member of the Steering Committee of the Trinity River Authority of the North Texas Council and Governments where she served for six years. Fran served for eleven years on The Air Quality Committee of NTCOG and Law En-forcement Committee for six years. She was a member of the Irving Chamber of Commerce for 40 years. She chaired the Irving Heritage Society Board, she served on the Board of Irving Cares for 10 years, Irving Preservation and Redevelopment Executive Board, and served on the YWCA board for 10 years. Fran also served as chair of the Image Task Force of the IISD and a member of the Site Based Committee for John Haley Elementary School. Among all her contributions and accomplishments Fran was the recipient of the Kenneth Yancy Small Business Development Award, and helped establish a Teen Court in Irving, Texas. She was a faithful and long-time member of First Methodist Church in Irving.

Above all her accomplishments and service to the City of Irving Fran will be remembered as loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend.

Fran is met in Heaven by her parents; son in law, Jeff Overton; and grandchildren: Berry Bonilla, Jr., and Brandon Bonilla. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Michael Richardson, Berry Bonilla,

Chris Bonilla, Nita Overton, and Robin Proctor; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends who will miss Fran dearly.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. thru 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, Frist Methodist

Church 211 W. Third Irving, Texas 75060.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, Frist Methodist Church 211 W. Third Irving, Texas 75060.

Following the funeral service Fran will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Irving Texas 75060.
