Man arrested for shooting victims at Chick-fil-A

Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta (37), was arrested by Irving Police early Thursday, June 27, after police sought him in relation to a deadly shooting at a Texas Chick-fil-A restaurant on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple 911 calls reported a shooting at the business located in the 5300 Block of N. MacArthur Boulevard in Las Colinas around 4 p.m. on June 26. EMTs found two people, Patricia Portillo (49) and Brayan Alexander Godoy (31), dead on the scene. Both victims were employees of the restaurant.

Police believe the incident was a targeted shooting and Mendoza Argueta acted alone.

The police have not released information about the relationship between the suspect and victims. And no details have been released as to why the two were targeted. According to an arrest warrant, Mendoza Argueta’s wife works at the Chick-fil-A. She witnessed the shooting and positively identified him.

The suspect was booked into the Irving City Jail after 3 a.m. on Thursday. He is charged with capital murder of multiple persons. Mendoza Argueta, a citizen of El Salvador, is the subject of an ICE hold issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service Dallas/Fort Worth.

Before Mendoza Argueta was arrested authorities issued an alert via social media, asking people to be on the lookout for Mendoza Argueta. They also asked them not to approach him should they see him.
