Police seek homicide suspect

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department responded to a shooting in the 300 block of South Center Street on Wednesday, July 3, at around 8:30 p.m. Officers located a male in a parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported by medics to a local hospital where medical staff later pronounced him deceased.

Detectives determined the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation, the disturbance escalated, resulting in the victim being shot. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival and was not located.

Over the weekend, Detectives identified Jose Alberto Sanchez, 24 years of age, as a person of interest in this homicide.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiners Officer once next of kin have been notified.
