Vicki Leigh Barker Taylor passed away with family surrounding her July 26, 2024. She was born April 25, 1948 to John and Lois Ann Barker of Grand Prairie, Texas. Vicki graduated from Grand Prairie High School, where she was a Gopher Cheerleader, in 1966. She earned an advanced degree in art therapy at UTA, where she was also a cheerleader and a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Vicki became a Licensed Professional Counselor. She taught art in various schools as well as maintained a therapeutic counseling practice. She expressed her love of art via various fiber mediums, painting, and creating clay works. Throughout her life she loved to visit art museums. She maintained an active social life as a member of the Junior League, and the Chub Club - which was a group of six neighbors who built lifelong friendships over themed dinners.
In 1982 Vicki and her then husband, Robert Whitehead, gave birth to their daughter, Leigh Allison (Alleigh). Years later, when Vicki married Garrett Taylor in 1996, Vicki and Alleigh moved to Cedar Creek, Texas. Vicki taught school and continued artistic endeavors until diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Garrett Taylor - Cedar Creek, Leigh Allison (Alleigh) Mumme and grandson Kaden Scott Mumme - Idaho, sister Bobbie Barker and husband Dan McClellan - Austin, John Barker Jr. and wife Aly Barker - Addison, and nieces and nephews. 
A memorial service will be held Monday, September 16 at 10:15 a.m. at the United First Methodist Church chapel in Grand Prairie.
