Student art celebrated by city

Irving—The city of Irving’s Disability Awareness poster contest is an annual tradition for Irving ISD fourth graders. The contest encourages students to artistically express the ways in which persons with disabilities can use their strengths and abilities to be part of the community. The city hosted the artists at the Oct. 3 city council meeting, where they were recognized by Mayor Rick Stopfer. Winning posters will be displayed at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in celebration of October’s Disability Awareness Month.
This year’s winners are as follows:
Angelique Bertoldo – Thomas Haley Elementary School
Dylan Matamoros – Keyes Elementary School.
Honorable mention artists are as follows:
Ever Zelaya – Keyes Elementary School
Jonathan Jovel Aviles – Farine Elementary School
Scarlett-Sky Flores – Farine Elementary School.
