Millions of voters made their voices heard on Election Day, Nov. 5. Donald J. Trump claimed the Presidency with 71,682,257 votes (50.9%) an unofficial total of 277 Electoral Votes. Kamala D. Harris secured 66,788,784 votes (47.4%), gaining 223 Electoral Votes.
The November ballot also allowed people in thousands of communities across the county to vote for state and county representatives as well as local propositions.
Dallas County reported that 1,469,952 Registered Voters cast 838,988 ballots. Approximately 57.08 percent of Dallas County voters participated in the election. The unofficial election results as of 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 6 reported county residents voted in the presidential election as follows:

Kamala D. Harris and Tim Walz DEM—497,992 votes, 59.72%
Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat LIB—6,175 votes,0.74%

Write-In Totals—4,486, 0.54%.
Irving residents approved Proposition A, which allows Irving firefighters to collectively bargain if a majority of affected employees favor being represented by an employee association. The measure also maintains prohibitions and penalties for firefighters engaging in strikes or lockouts.

Coppell residents rejected a potential 3.17 cent tax increase for the Coppell Independent School District’s Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate. The measure would have generated an additional $2.4 million in revenue for the district.
