Science Olympiad Team shines at STEM Invitational
January 17, 2025
Irving—Singley Academy’s Science Olympiad team shined at last month’s Seven Lakes Invitational Tournament held in Katy. Out of 52 teams from across the state, Singley finished 36th overall, with two students, Shuba Naima and Elnour Elnour, earning first place in Anatomy and Physiology.
“Science Olympiad is one of the best clubs for any student that finds even the smallest iota of enjoyment in STEM. The many different events, from building to chemistry, allow all of us to hone our skills or explore something new, improving both individually and as a team,” team captain Marsiha Khan said. “Not only does the club promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) literacy, it also creates a fun and supportive environment for all team members. As we prepare for competitions, we always aim to improve, and this mentality is what sets us up for success in the future, STEM-related or not.”
The team will soon begin preparing for the regional competition, set to take place in Fort Worth on March 8.
