Cedar Hill—The Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation (CHEF) recently presented five Honoring Our Outstanding Paraprofessionals, Lead Educators and Administrators (HOOPLA) Awards.

Each honoree will receive a $50 gift card from CHEF, plus a banner for their classroom or office.

The honorees were Beverly Berry (Special Education), Myisha Palmer-McKinney (Collegiate Prep Elementary), Alisha Cooks (Permenter Middle School), Lacey Jacobs (Waterford Oaks Elementary) and Crystal Vasquez (Waterford Oaks Elementary).

Here were the nominations for each of the honorees:

Berry

Mrs. Berry has served as the Medicaid Clerk for Special Education for three years. During this time, she has coordinated training for staff and developed structures to ensure that we are meeting our compliance measures for Medicaid Billing. She connects parents and staff with necessary materials for Medicaid and is always willing to support the needs of our service providers.

Palmer-McKinney

Mrs. McKinney is truly an asset to the Prep campus. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to increase the capacity of our teachers and scholars. She is always willing to take the initiative to learn more and explore opportunities to improve her skills and her craft. I am thankful to have her on the team.

Cooks

Ms. Cooks is a well-rounded leader on the Permenter campus. She consistently champions for the Permenter campus and our scholars. Whether it is competing in a district sponsored scavenger hunt, leading a team during a campus PD Goose Chase or increasing scholar achievement, Mrs. Cooks approaches all challenges with a contagious winning mentality. Approaching all challenges as opportunities for improvement, Mrs. Cooks models the high expectations she sets for her scholars by also setting them for herself. Mrs. Cooks has other aspirations and looks for chances to increase her capacity as an educator.

Jacobs & Vasquez

Lacey Jacobs & Crystal Vasquez are amazing instructors with our Pre-K Scholars. They really help the kids adjust to the new environment of elementary school, while providing a welcoming learning environment.
